Photolithography is also relevant in the field of 3D biotechnologies.

The aim of 3D biotechnology is to reproduce living organs from stem cells or living cells or to reproduce structures that can simulate organs or parts of living organs, from biocompatible synthetic biomaterials.

Specific needs of 3D biotechnology

These technologies known as “tissue engineering” require very high-resolution equipment, compatible with the production of large three-dimensional manufacturing.

To meet the expectations from the researchers in biomedical and biotechnologies, Kloe has developed, in collaboration with the researchers of CNRS-LAAS from Toulouse, a stereolithography equipment called Dilase 3D, a unique equipment for the manufacturing of high resolution large volume objects.

This equipment makes possible to reach resolutions down to the micron scale while remaining compatible with the manufacture of large volume objects, typically up to 100x100x50mm3.

We have been able to demonstrate the possibility of producing a bone structure with extreme fidelity. Many other porous and three-dimensional structures are achievable thanks to the technology implemented in our high resolution 3D printer Dilase 3D such as medical implant with combination of microneedles.
